A
Fair to Remember

It's that time of year again--the weather is turning, the leaves are changing hue, it's time for the fall fair. Some people think of funnel cakes, cotton candy, and hay rides. David fondly reminisces about "cozy dogs" at the Selma fair. When we went to Atlanta to visit, I was glad that Elsie got to pet ponies, visit with old friends and family, and eat ice cream at my alma mater at the Pace Fair. Elsie, however, had her own list of favorite things:
1. Seeing Uncle Johnny's high school track record and trying to set my own record running around the indoor track--"Uncle Johnny is my inspiration. He's like the wind," says Elsie.
2. Being surrounded by a harem of greyhounds. Elsie saw a group of rescue greyhounds and sat down right in the center.
3. Moldy stroller straps--Really, we don't understand this so don't ask us to explain, but whenever we go somewhere, like the playground, Elsie immediately examines all of the stroller straps in peoples' strollers. At the fair, there were lots of straps, so she reports.
4. The generators--There were ponies to see, hotdogs to eat, and people to visit with and Elsie kept running for the generators running the blow-up, bounce-y things. Why, you ask? It must be because she is very advanced for her age, says her father.
