Labor Day 2010

Well, with David on call in Jesup, the girls couldn't just sit around waiting for fun to find us. We had to go find our own fun. First we road tripped to Charleston. Mom was thrilled to have survived the 2 1/2 hour drive to Isle of Palms and the Fulmer's lovely beach house. In fact, the drive wasn't bad at all thanks to naps, DVDs, and maybe some lollipops (don't tell D about those). Once there, we played with the Pace family on the beach, in the pool, and in the playroom! As always, the Fulmers and Paces are the most generous of hosts and we are anxious to return!
On the way home, we swung through 20 Belted Kingfisher to visit the Boukaters and Grammy and Poppa at the beach and then, after naps, headed back to Savannah to see Daddy on Sunday. Grammy and Poppa came over for a Labor Day dinner on Monday to complete the holiday weekend!
Of course, I was all cocky and arrogant about my single mom travels until someone at work told the story of her sister-in-law crossing the Atlantic with two kids on a plane and then traveling with them sans daddy or assistance in a train, on a bus, and on a cart?! once they arrived at their Asian location. I guess my Western woes aren't all that commendable! But it does suggest to me that some girl road trips might be in our future--maybe involving the
Grease sound track and gummy bears?!
